International Travel Made Easier
Philadelphia Airport is about to
offer the international traveler the luxury and comfort
of a downtown bistro and an upscale lounge bar. The
grand openings of the Cibo Bistro & Wine Bar and
the Shades of Blue Lounge at Terminal 1 are scheduled
for May. These exciting designs of Ztecture, PC and
its principal Stephen Zwick have brought drama and fun
to this new international terminal.
In Cibo, Mr. Zwick has used neon towers and up lights
to illuminate the 20 foot tall back bar. Pour per glass
wine dispensers and beer displays gives the visitor
an opportunity to view the Bistros entire selection
easily from the 45 foot long under lit onyx bar. Directly
across from the bar is what Mr. Zwick refers to as a
Drama Kitchen. Colorful backlit panels of
encapsulated spices form an archway around this open
drama kitchen give the customer the feel of being
a part of the food preparation.
In the Shades of Blue Lounge, travelers can sit back
in overstuff sofas, while listening to the sounds of
jazz. The interior finishes, as the name suggests, are
various shades of blue. Mural reproductions of jazz
themed artwork by the architects late mother,
Rosemary Zwick, further add to the ambiance. Rosemary
Zwicks art has been in major museums like the
Art Institute of Chicago, the Smithsonian, the Brooklyn
Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Art amongst many
others.
Creating exciting places where travelers can escape
from the airport without having to leave the airport
says Stephen Zwick is what drives his design. These
are not to be missed locations.
